Here at Cables Plus USA, we wanted to take a moment to contact our customers about the current global shortage of MPO/MTP connectivity.
As artificial intelligence (AI) ramps up, the data center industry is experiencing rapid spikes in demand for GPUs, optical transceivers, and fiber cable and connectivity required to implement AI clusters. With these AI clusters encompassing hundreds or thousands of interconnected GPUs operating at 100 Gigabit speeds and above, demand for multimode and singlemode MPO/MTP connectors is at an all-time high. This surge has created bottlenecks within the global supply chain, resulting in longer lead times for all major MPO/MTP manufacturers, including our leading suppliers, Senko and US CONEC.
Due to these shortages, we have extremely limited multimode MPO/MTP connectivity availability and currently no singlemode MPO/MTP connectivity in stock.
We are working closely with our suppliers to monitor the situation and increase our capacity to meet the demand. Please note that as we improve our MPO/MTP inventory, the majority of our stock will be slated for existing orders and customers. In the meantime, we highly recommend that you carefully plan any new orders to accommodate longer lead times of at least 6 to 8 weeks from receipt of order.
